New Post!

&t Well, now that NDP is over, i gotta put my focus back on growing the business and the local 'organisation.'

Oh, and another thing! I just discovered that Courtney Love is a SGI member!

Ahem...now, to start the entry off properly, my sister was telling me today that once, out of pure boredom, she ran a search on my name 'Lim Weixian' on Google, and she was pleasantly suprised at the results that came out!

Of course, there are like tonnes of 'Lim Weixians' in Singapore hence, most of the results were not related to me at all. However, out of the many unrelated links, two of them were actually directly related to me. Here are the links:

Let me talk alittle bit about the latter link.

I got to know Colin Goh and Woo Yen Yen (Colin's wife), way back in 2001, during the days of
'TalkingCock The Movie,' and i must say they are truly awesome, humble and sincere folks!

I was a minor actor in the film, playing the role of an 'Ah Beng' student
studying in an 'Ah Beng' university called 'Hoot U.'

In 2005, i received a call from Colin, saying that he needed me to play the role of a nerd, who has a crush
on a girl in the office, for his upcoming movie, 'Singapore Dreaming.' Not one to miss out on an opportunity like that,
i immediately agreed.

I was serving my NS at that time and i remembered that a few days after the call,
i met up with him and his wife at some landed property near Bishan MRT.
He then briefed me on my role (a non-speaking role by the way), and the rehearsal and actual filming schedules.
It was very nice meeting, short and sweet, and certainly very nostalgic.

In the credits, my name appears in the 'Irene's Office Colleagues,' row. Basically, what i had to do was to portray
a guy who walks like Napolean in 'Napolean Dynamite,' who later confesses to Irene that he likes her, but
is then rejected by her, as she is about to get married. I was scheduled to appear in 2 scenes.

The scene was rehearsed on set at a flat in Braddell road, and was shot at an office near the Singapore Expo.

However, sadly, my scene was not used as the directors felt that somehow, my character didn't fit into the storyline,
but nonetheless, it was an awesome experience!

I really appreciate it that Colin and his wife remembered me, and sincerely thank them for giving me the
chance to act in their lastest movie, which was a success! I'd also like to thank them for including my name in the credits,
even though i did not appear in the movie!

My foray into movie making started way back in 1997. Back then, i was part of a specially selected team made up of
students from various secondary schools across the island. We were part of a 2 week course conducted by a NTU mass comm masters' student
where we had to learn about video production, how to operate a studio, AG455 cameras, etc etc etc. In this 2 weeks as well, we had to
come up with a program for the local 'Eureka learning Channel.' It was in this course that i first learnt about pre production, production
and post production.

The program that we made 'Hype: A hip program by teens for teens,' was a variety program that focused on teenage issues.
I was assigned the role of production co-ordinator, and although the program wasn't aired subsequently, we all felt that the course really
opened up our eyes to the world of TV production.

After 'TalkingCock The Movie,' came Roystan's '15 The Movie,' in 2002. I came on board as a production assistant halfway through production.

I didn't know who Roystan Tan was back then, but as time progressed, i got to know him, and his team, alittle better. I'm totally impressed
by their professionalism. The thing about Roystan too is that there are not airs about him. Often times, i would ask him for some advice on movie
making, and he would always gladly offer me tips.

During this period also, i learnt alot about the management aspect of movie making, like handling the payroll of 'extras' in the film. I worked
more closely with the producer, Fong Cheng, who is a really kind and sweet lady! She never once lost her temper, even though i've made silly
mistakes.

After that, i was involved in some film projects done by FSV students from Ngee Ann Polytechnic. One praticular project that stood out most
was 'Hikikomori,' a film done by Spnish exchange students from the University of Catalonia. I was initially given the role of production assistant,
however, i was later 'upgraded' to the role of talent-cum-producer.

Honestly, i was at my blurest and most unprofessional during that period of time. But well, it was one heck of a production!

So many things happened during filming, the main actor decided to quit, so did the make up artiste, constant quarelling with
the director, yada yada. Notwithstanding, this particular production really thought me about the importance of perseverance and creativity.

It's been a long time now since i've last been involved in such projects. My cherished dream of making my own block buster movie
still remains strong, but right now though, i've gotta build up this company.

In conclusion, all i wanna say is, please...do watch out for my up and coming movie!!!

* Thank you for reading this post. I still have not gotten the hang of writting a blog yet, so
if the post looks outwardly weird, please forgive me :^D *
